Philosophy
The Ethical movement holds that the common ground of diverse religions, spiritual doctrines, and humanist thoughts are moral values. We abide by a non-theistic religious humanism belief that each and every person has moral worth and is deserving of both dignity and respect. Our motto “Deed before Creed” reflects our conviction that a person’s actions are more important than his or her particular belief system.
We believe everyone has the ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity, based on reason, altruism, and knowledge. Our study and practice of ethics – standards of conduct and moral judgment – give us guiding principles for moral relationships. The pursuit of ethical wisdom is a life-long goal that guides our actions. These actions are vital in our striving to create a world of respect, justice, and love.
