Sunday Meetings
The Sunday Meeting is our central weekly event. Music, poetry, reflection, and discussion of ethical issues inform and inspire us. A speaker – our Humanist Religion Director, a member, or guest – talks about enduring ethical issues. We have heard about such diverse topics as medical ethics, the arts, the homeless, the U.N., democracy and the legislative process, gangs, the media, the environment, and international relations.
We intersperse the talks with special events for all Society members, young and old – such as a Thanksgiving celebration, a winter festival, Darwin Day, the Teen Art, Music, and Poetry Festival, and the YES Pasta Dinner. We also have on-going groups of special interest. There is always something interesting going on at EHSLI!
Meetings begin at 11 a.m. at our Society in Garden City, N.Y. (September through June). Following a one-hour talk, we have a coffee hour for informal discussion, connection, and camaraderie.
Visitors are always welcome. Join us!
While the adults are participating in Sunday Meeting, the Kids In Deed Program takes place in our classrooms.
